Autumn in Portugal
As I write this the wind is howling up the valley and the rain is coming down hard. This is day 4 of “autumn” here in Portugal. The weather over the past few months has been boiling with absolutely no rain at all. This all changed 4 days ago. We’ve the small woodburner in the sitting room going and I have a gas heater pointed straight at me too. There are holes in the floor and the windows are not insulated. So the point I’m trying to make is- it is very cold.
The weather is problematic seeing as our 60 olive trees need picking and pruning. Yes that’s 60 trees and they are monsters having not been well looked after for a long time before we moved in last year. You can see in the photo that some are bigger than the house! I’m just enjoying the novelty of having a lovely fire lit. By around day 12 of “autumn” the novelty will have worn off and I will start to miss the 38 degree heat.
