One Acre Update

Our One Acre has been a hive of activity over the past few weeks. So far we have picked around 80 kgs of olives from our trees. Not bad, but we are aiming for 120kg so not quite complete. I’m sure our neighbours would be horrified with our olive picking method! We aim to have this wrapped up by Friday.

I’ve made good progress with the kitchen project too. So far I have finished painting the corner of the room where the wood burner is going to sit. It is most definitely white now. I’ve also bought tiles to be used as a splash back. I have experimented with colour washing and decided although it looks great, it would make the room too dark. Left to do is put up the splash back and order and install the hearth tiles and woodburner. I really want that wood burner in soon as I want to cook the turkey in it at Christmas!

My winter kitchen garden is sprouting too. The lettuce in the seed trays is growing really well, in a couple of weeks I’ll have to plant it out into the ground. The plants that I planted straight into the ground are also growing although I’m slightly concerned that I can’t seem to differentiate between weeds and lettuce seedlings. I hope it becomes a bit clearer soon so I don’t pull out the wrong things.

There are a few other little bits and bobs that are moving along too I’m pleased to say so although the weather is terrible and the battle to stay warm is relentless, things are ticking along nicely.
